Well, it’s been a while since I’ve posted. My apologies. I promise it’s because I’ve been slammed with busy-ness. The good kind. The kind every artist hopes they encounter. But rather than rambling how about I fill you in…

2012 so far…

January was pretty chill. I spent a lot of time evaluating where this year would take me. Good stuff. So important to put on the brakes and force yourself to look at where you’re headed so you can re-align your vision and make sure your heart is set on the right things. Spent some time in Nashville talking to some good people about a new record. Exciting. More on that later…

February found me on the road again for the second instalment of my good friend, Paul Brandt’s Now Tour. I join him as a special guest / keyboard player / backing vocalist and have off and on for the past 5 years. We headed to the East Coast of Canada for the acoustic leg of the tour. Acoustic shows are some of my favourites. Especially when they involve amazing old theatres and super warm crowds – which is always the case in the East.

March kicked off with the 3rd and final instalment of the Paul Brandt Now Tour. We played a lot of arenas and larger theatres to some amazing crowds. I also debuted my brand new song, “See Through Heart” at these shows and that was super exciting / terrifying. Thankfully, the crowds were so enthusiastic towards it and I would venture to say I’ve never had a response like that to a song I’ve written before. A good sign. Mid-March also was my sister’s wedding, so literally days after the last day of the Now Tour I flew to LA for my lovely sister Tanisha’s marriage to my good friend, Jamie Out. The wedding was small (12 people total), intimate, laid back and wonderful. Just the way it should be. After wedding festivities I spent 2 additional weeks in LA to write and vacation. Met some amazing people in that crazy city and spent many late nights with good friends. So many inspiring individuals under one big smog-filled sky.

April finds me in the present. And as of a week ago, I’ve moved into my second home – Nashville, TN. I’ll be spending the next 6 months between Nashville, LA and Kelowna, BC. With the new album being recorded in Nashville and some other exciting stuff on the horizon, it made sense to spend some more permanent time here. Who knows what will happen at the end of 6 months, but for now I’m loving the Southern way of life. Still haven’t acquired a taste for sweet tea though.

And that’s it. Please keep in touch by following me on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. I post updates on these almost daily and it’s the best way to keep track of what I’m up to if you so desire. Would love to interact with you on there.

Until next time, take care my friends. Thanks for joining me on this journey of making a living making art. I can’t thank you enough for your support.

High Fives,

Greg

Earlier this week we released “Perfect (Merry Little Christmas)” to Canadian radio, as well as to online retailers, globally.

It was late Tuesday night and we had just wrapped shooting the music video for the song a few hours earlier in North Vancouver. I was so tired, I couldn’t even sleep. I found myself on iTunes clicking through random songs, as I do oftentimes, hoping I’ll stumble upon something that will rock my world. As I did so, I thought to my self “how cool would it be if Perfect made it on the iTunes charts?”. With that thought in the back of my brain, I started looking at the Holiday chart. Much to my surprise, I saw…well, my name at #41. I immediately needed to tell a friend about this, but it was kind of late, so I did what every kindhearted friend does when he or she doesn’t want to wake friends 2AM – I told Facebook. And maybe Twitter.

I went to bed still buzzing and woke to find it had climbed all the way to #11. Over the next few hours it went from 11 to 10, from 10 to 9, 9 to 7 and eventually 5 to the 4th slot on the chart. Just 3 spots away from the top holiday song in all of Canada. And all of these first three slots were held by a certain young man with hair that makes 12 year old girls swoon (Don’t be mistaken – I’m a belieber. Not a hater).

Anyways, here is some photographic evidence if you don’t believe me. That’s right, I was sandwiched between the Biebs, Buble and Mariah. Not bad company if I do say so myself. To all who downloaded the single, thank you so much. If you haven’t downloaded “Perfect” yet, this should make the process generally quick and painless: http://bit.ly/prfect

Merry Early Christmas to you.

Greg

I have always been a diehard fan of Yamaha’s keyboards and pianos, so to be featured in the very magazine that I often flipped through as a teen was an incredible honour (especially alongside Rowlf the Dog).

The Yamaha crew and highly acclaimed photographer, Rob Shanahan, flew up to Vancouver for the shoot, where I was able to introduce them to a few of my favourite spots in Gastown.
